Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada and is American. She has released more than 20 studio albums. DiFranco classifies her music as folk-rock or alternative. But it has influences from hip-hop, punk and jazz. Ani Difranco is believed to be a feminist legend and Grammy award-winning. In the beginning, as one of the first female artists in the 90s, she founded her own record label. DiFranco was born on 23rd September, 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father was of Italian heritage and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the song 32 Flavors. This track is on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized for hosting a workshop in Louisiana in an old slave plantation. The event was later cancelled but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco released an apology just a few weeks following. The guitar is equipped with their System 600 amp and is all made from solid woods. This includes the body with a mahogany top and cedar sides with an ebony-fretboard. DiFranco is at home at home in New Orleans where she lives with her husband, two children and sidekick Lefty their long-legged dog who wanders in and out of frame as we chat. DiFranco currently thirty years into her career says that looking back at the past has caused her to have mixed emotions. The singer and songwriter from the punk/folk genre Ani DiFranco achieved musical hero status at the age of 25 among both fans and critics after her seventh studio album Not A Pretty Girl in 1995 and even greater popular success through Dilate In 1996. The single was released in 1972 by American pop band Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie was the Looking Glass guitar player and also the singer.
